A new piercing is an open wound that needs to heal. The best thing you can do is treat the wound with leave at ease<\/strong>. Do you want to clean it anyway? Then do it the right way and with washed hands! There are many (wrong) ways how to clean a piercing. Read in this post how NOT to clean the piercing and for what reasons you better not do it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Can you clean a new piercing with alcohol? <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

No<\/strong>, you may have a new piercing not <\/strong>cleaning with alcohol! Alcohol dries out and causes irritation. If you use alcohol on a piercing, the jewel may be rejected by your body. The reason for this is because you are signaling to your body that there is dirt in the wound. Your body will do everything it can to clean that wound and push everything out. For dirt and bacteria, this makes sense but also the jewel will be seen as foreign. The jewel will be rejected and the body will always win the battle. With an oral piercing, drinking alcohol is not recommended during healing because it slows down the healing process and can irritate the wound. What is still best to avoid is smoking, hugely acidic beverages and mouthwash with alcohol in it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Is it okay to clean a new piercing with dettol?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

No<\/strong>, you may have a new piercing not <\/strong>Clean with dettol! It will do more harm than good. Dettol is a strong disinfectant and is too aggressive for the wound. In addition, the drug kills all the bacteria. And no this is not good, as there are also good bacteria in the body and these are also killed. Good bacteria you need to stay healthy. They make sure the bad bacteria have no place to grow. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Can you clean a new piercing with soap?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In addition, it is too aggressive to the wound and is bactericidal. It kills all bacteria, both bad and good. The good bacteria absolutely must not die off because they keep you healthy. Give your body a chance to heal itself. None of<\/strong> the above resources are sterile. <\/strong>Neither does water but there is nothing (harmful) in that and you can use it to wash away scabs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Can you clean a new piercing with sea salt? <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Yes<\/strong>, you may clean a new piercing with products containing saline. Sea salt is closest to your own body fluids (plasma) and helps fight infections. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
