Meer info needed about buying a helix piercing?

We answer below some questions you might have around setting and buying helix piercings, so feel free to read on!

What is a helix piercing?

The helix piercing is the most common piercing. It is placed in the curl of the auricle, which is the piece of cartilage at the top of your ear. You can place it at different heights.

As a result, they then each have a different name: regular helix, forward-helix and the low-helix.

How much does a helix piercing cost and where can you buy a new helix piercing?

For placing any type of helix piercing, the price is €35. This is without including the jewel.

The jewelry starts at the price of €15. These can be found both in the shop, as well as on the webshop.

How does the placement of helix piercings work?

Is it painful to get a helix piercing?

For one person, the placement of helix piercings will be quite painful, but for another person it will then feel like a short pinching prick.

What is certain is that shortly after the piercing is placed, the pain will be gone.

What materials are helix piercings primarily made of that we sell?

At Inksane, we use only Implant grade titanium,  by its many advantages: it is completely hypoallergenic (100% nickel-free), it is as hard as steel, but lightweight.

A second option is surgical steel,  but this has some disadvantages, and is therefore not used by us:  heavy in weight, and there is also a small amount of nickel in it which makes those jewelry items not good for people with allergies.

Because we work with quality materials and piercings, so you're only going to find jewelry made out of Implant grade titanium at our physical store or online store.

What is the minimum age for a helix piercing?

At an age of 12-14 you can already come to us for the placement of a helix piercing.

However, a parent or guardian must be present when you are age is under 16 years of age.

How long does the healing process of a helix piercing take?

The duration of healing is the same as all other piercings that are in the cartilage, such as a tragus piercing, for example. So this is 6 - 9 months.

How do I know if my helix piercing is infected?

Your helix piercing should not be unbearably painful. If you do experience a lot of pain, it is recommended to have it looked at by the piercer or family doctor.

However, it is normal if your ear is slightly sensitive to touch and a bit swollen.

How should I clean my helix piercing?

Rinse once a day with running water. In addition, you can also rinse your piercing twice a day with a saline product. This product is best applied to your piercing through a fine mist. This will allow you to nicely loosen the scabs that are there.

What kind of jewelry can I use for my helix piercing?

For helix jewelry, rings or labrets are mostly used.

When placed, a labret is more likely to be chosen, but once your piercing has healed you can feel free to change to a ring if you wish.

Can I take off my helix piercing during the healing process?

When placing a helix, any swelling is taken into account, which is why they place a slightly longer rod. After a period of 6 - 8 weeks, you can have that rod changed to a shorter one by a piercer.

Why can't you sleep on helix piercings?

One of the most common problems in healing a fresh piercing is that there are people who sleep on it.

When you sleep on your piercing, there is a pressure on the new piercing as well as friction. As a result, complications such as irritation, pain, extra swelling, misalignment and bumps can then occur.

Can I place a helix piercing along with others at the same time?

If you decide to have multiple piercings placed at the same time, we do not recommend doing more than 3.

This is because your body will recover more slowly and also more laboriously.
