Can I put a nose ring in a helix piercing?

We often get the question of whether you can insert a nose ring into a helix piercing. The short answer: no. But of course, at Inksane, we prefer to explain a little more.

The difference between a helix piercing and a nose piercing

Everything starts with the piercing itself. A helix piercing is pierced at a thickness of 1.2 mm. The jewel that is placed also has that thickness.
A nose piercing is routinely pierced at 1 mm because most people want it fine and subtle.
For both piercing, a rod is started to allow for proper healing. After a few months, a ring can be placed.

Inserting a nose ring into a helix piercing

What happens when you insert a ring meant for a nose piercing into your helix piercing?
The ring for a nose piercing is 0.8mm to 1mm thick. If you are going to insert this into a helix piercing (or any other cartilage piercing), your piercing hole will shrink and it will be very difficult to insert another piercing later. Cartilage can always be stretched back a bit, but this is often a painful process.
With cartilage piercings, it is also very important that you go with the thickness of 1.2mm, a ring of 1mm or thinner can start tearing much easier. Think of the effect of iron wire on butter. Nobody wants that, of course.

Fortunately, we offer a lot of great options for helix piercing, as you can see below.
